For the 50^th anniversary of the Cassina iMaestri Collection, the company welcomes Vico Magistretti to the list of its most influential 20^th Century designers. To celebrate this addition, Cassina presents Maralunga 50, an edition available for a limited time only of one of his most emblematic models which also turns 50 this year. This Maralunga is dressed in a soft and elegant nubuck leather in red, a tone that was very dear to Magistretti: a true hallmark, it was a constant throughout his life and career, from the socks that he often wore to it becoming a symbol of his nonconformism in the design world.

Designed in 1973 and winner of a Compasso d’Oro award in 1979, the Maralunga model immediately made its mark as an icon with great strength and impact on the international market. Its uniqueness is associated to the hidden innovation of the backrest which can be raised and lowered thanks to the mechanism developed from a simple bicycle chain, while its generous and cosy volumes accentuate its comfort and enhance its timeless beauty.

Since the 1960s, for over 30 years, the stories of Cassina and Vico Magistretti intertwined on numerous occasions, writing extraordinary chapters in international design. Their professional and personal relationship grew increasingly stronger to create an important partnership that today is defined by innovative design icons.
