THE GALAXY LAMP WINS AN INTERIOR DESIGN 2024 NYCXDESIGN AWARD

The 2024 edition of the Interior Design NYCxDESIGN Awards saw the Galaxy lamp by Charles and Ray Eames, icon from the Cassina Lighting Collection, as a winner in the ‘Iconic Products’ category.

First presented at “An Exhibition for Modern Living” at Detroit Institute of Arts in 1949, this model was made in the prototype shop at the Eames Office from automotive components and different sized brass tubes, inserted into a sphere made from a wooden ball. Despite the considerable interest it received, Galaxy has never been mass-produced before becoming part of the Cassina 2024 Lighting Collection.

Cassina has developed this burst of light for serial production in close collaboration with the Eames Office and through in-depth research work, implementing modern technologies and materials while still safeguarding the research process conducted by the two designers.
