Banquette Mauritanie

Design Charlotte Perriand

Sophisticated, timeless design

Designed by Charlotte Perriand in 1959, this bench is part of a series of furnishings for the homes of the managers and staff of the “Miferma” mining company in the city of Cansado, on the Atlantic coast of Mauritania.

The design bench revisits and borrows from the construction technologies, materials and designs previously created by Charlotte Perriand to furnish the Brazil House [student hostel] in the Cité Universitaire complex in Paris.

Banquette Mauritanie is composed of magnificent wood lattice upon which the cushions can be placed in various arrangements, thus allowing different interpretations of use and responding to a variety of contract needs.
